 Over
the last nine years Zoppo (from Amsterdam, Holland) has grown from a
home-tape duo into a four boys and one girl band. After several
vinyl releases, their first full-length cd "Belgian Style Pop" meant
their break-through to more media attention and a broader audience.
Their third full-length "Les Aumonts" was released to great reviews
and by press and bands in the same genre considered to be the best
example of Dutch "postrock".Zoppo's fourth album "Don't Trust Scarred Survivors", released early 2006, shows them in a more 3-4 minute "pop-fashion", without losing the edgy guitar-sounds and the so typical melancholic feel. The album again got applauded as an exceptional and outstanding record (see reviews section). Zoppo's very own universe exists of intensity, intimacy and loveliness as well as rawness, loudness and noise, always based on inventive melodies. Gigs (Apart from playing the Dutch club-venues regularly): > VPRO-Radio 5 acoustic session, broadcasted nation-wide May 26 & June 2, 1999 > VPRO-Radio 3 live-on-the-air (twice), broadcasted nation-wide July 23, 1999 and October 10, 2001 > Paradiso, Amsterdam, August 11, 1999/ March 9, 2000/October 17, 2001, December 23, 2004 > Crossing Border-festival 1999 (yearly international festival for alternative music), The Hague. > Noorderslag-festival 2000 (yearly festival for most promising Dutch bands), Groningen. > October/November 2002 Zoppo did a six-day UK tour and a live-session for BBC-Humberside. > July 2003: Truck Festival, Hill Farm, Steventon, Oxfordshire (UK) > Eurosonic-Festival, Groningen 2006 Zoppo's fourth album "Don't Trust Scarred Survivors" was released March 13, 2006.
