cd: forst catalogue: dream 38 (2007)

After last years debut 7"-single "Somme"/"On Leaving This World Tonight" (on their own Wormer Bros Records label), "Forst" is the debut full-length album by Dutch indie-rock band The Bent Moustache.

"Forst" cherishes the open-minded musical and lyrical elements of the music the band-members grew up on, varying from straight-forward indie-rock to dub-reggae, agitprop and shoegaze. Being part of the music-scenes for many years, some lyrics (in the extrovert songs) express a stand against the hypocrisy that rules that world and the world we live in in general. In the more introvert (mesmerising, almost transcendental) songs the music speaks for itself or the songs have more personal lyrics.

"Forst" is an album from a band that knows perfectly its musical and lyrical dimensions, driven, with a necessary edge, down-to-earth poppy and fleetingly spacey.

As bonus-tracks the two songs of the debut 7" are added.

The CD is released during The Bent Moustache's seven weeks, 35 gigs USA/Canada-tour as support to American indie-rockers Sebadoh.

Release dates: March 26, 2007 (USA), May 7, 2007 (UK), October 29, 2007 (Europe)
