discowhispers.jpg (4025 bytes) Licensed from Sylem Records and Ankst Records to Transformed Dreams, Suikerspin represents the nuggets of five years Melys. This compilation of their mostly sold-out EPs includes both 2001 singles (and the 2001 Festive Fifty No. 1 Chinese whispers).
Almost all tracks have had brilliant reviews in the UK press (NME, Melody Maker, Q, The Guardian) and with their two latest singles (I dont believe in you was Single of the week) they gained airplay on Dutch evening radio. In April 2001 they did a live session for VPRO Radio 3 FM  Club Lek. In the UK Melys did six John Peel sessions.

All eleven songs on Suikerspin have this very own Melys sense of Bittersweetness. Sometimes they are dark and groovy, at other times light and open. The use of analogue synthesisers and the production of Geraint Jones show influences of seventies dub and eighties acid that melt together smoothly with Melys pure pop. Andrea Parkers vocals are at times bitter and angry, but most of the time they are fragile and lull the listener into a gloomy world of attraction and distraction. The songs have been re-mastered at Loud-studio in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Sylem records, together with Amsterdams Transformed Dreams label, are chuffed to little green apples to announce the new release from MELYS. Chinese Whispers will be available on a three track, CD format. Other songs are the summery Watercolour and spacious, Welsh language track Gwerthfawr.
All tracks were recorded in the bands own Betws-y-Coed studio, and produced by Geraint fast fingers Jones. Chinese Whispers is the first release on CD since the bands most successful single Un Darllenwr Lwcus (possibly the most rock and roll song in the history of music.. Melody Maker). The band are presently recording a new album (entitled Dirty) to follow up to the acclaimed Kamikaze album (4 / 5 stars.Melody Maker).So, theres the news, pass the whispers on,. or, as they say in HollandVerkeerd Doorvertellen!!
